The Destruction of the Commons

"Our economic system has a fatal
design flaw: it conceals many of the
negative consequences of our choices,
labeling them 'externalities.'"

The Theft of the Commons:

The law arrests both man and woman
who steal the goose from off the common,
But lets the greater villain loose,
who steals the common from the goose.

Groups & Organizations (concerned about the commons)

People- & Planet-Friendly Events & Resources

There are hundreds or thousands of groups that are concerned about the commons in one way or another. Environment groups, anti-globalization groups, corporate watch, social justice groups, peace groups, etc. Here are just a very few that come to mind, with links to many more.

Toronto Public Space Committee – working to democratise our public spaces which have become dominated by automobiles, advertising and private interest. We need to level the playing field by reducing corporate visual pollution and increasing independent expression on our streets. For our collective health and safety, we are also dedicated to reducing our city's dependance on the private automobile by encouraging the use of clean and safe modes of transportation. http://publicspace.ca info@publicspace.ca
