The Canada China Environmental Forum
Thu Jun 12, 2008, Toronto, ON
With the remarkable growth of its economy, China is faced with addressing the far-reaching implications on the environment.
The environmental sector in China has enormous opportunities for Canadian companies - not only technology and service providers, but supporting businesses (financial, legal, consulting, marketing, accounting and logistics) as well.
In the energy sector alone, China is 2007 was estimated to be only second to Germany with $10 billion investment in renewables capabilities - and is expected to pass wind and solar manufacturers in North America, Europe and Japan in the next 3 years.
So, why do experts agree that Canadian companies are missing the boat, and where do we go from here?
The Canada China Environmental Forum will be held on June 12, 2008 in partnership with The Home Depot, the Canada China Business Council, the Hong Kong Canadian Business Association, the Organization of Women in International Trade, TLI-The Mandarin School and the Summerhill Group. This groundbreaking event will feature insight from top Canadian business and government leaders, including:
Honourable Scott Brison, MP Kings-Hants
Dr. David Fung, Chairman CME
Nick Parker, Chairman of Cleantech LLC
Dr. You-Zhi Tang, Chairman of Canada-China Environmental Cooperation Council
Annette Verschuren, President, The Home Depot Canada and Asia
Topics:
What are the specific needs in China for Canadian technology and expertise?
What is the financial opportunity in the cleantech sector?
What are the roles of government, and how does that intersect with corporations and entrepreneurs?
What are successful (and unsuccessful) market entry strategies?
This all-day seminar includes lunch, refreshment breaks and an evening wine networking reception.
All proceeds over and above operating costs will be donated to the Yunnan Mountain Heritage Foundation (www.ymhfshangrila.com) to support the socially and environmentally sustainable development of this unique region of western China.
