Quebec Sustainable Campuses Conference (Jan 31 - Feb 3)    Thu Jan 31 to Sun Feb 3, 2008, Montreal, QC

Sustainable Campuses -- Quebec Conference

Given that Quebec enjoys a history of mutual help and cooperation, it is not surprising that environmental groups on Quebec campuses were the first in Canada to come together and organize the inter-university conference on environment and sustainability!

The next Quebec conference for Sustainable Campuses will take place in January-February 2008 at McGill University.

Message from the organizers:

From January 31st to February 3rd 2008, students at McGill University will host the fifth annual Sustainable Campuses Québec Conference .You, as CEGEP and University students from across Québec, are invited to Montreal for a three-day weekend of workshops, guest lectures and social events. This conference will allow us to develop common resources, share blueprints for green projects, and create lasting relationships. This year's theme is 'expanding communities'. As the first Québec Sustainable Campus Conference to provide full translation, this event will promote the interaction of francophones and anglophones as a community of equals.

The price of admission (only $50!) grants you access to two and a half days of workshops and speakers as well as evenings' entertainment. This includes a concert and an interactive eco-fashion show. Delicious vegetarian meals will be provided by student groups dedicated to local, organic food as well as local food suppliers. For students coming from outside the Montreal area, we are coordinating complementary billeting.

We are also co-presenting a talk by David Suzuki on the night of Thursday, January31st for only an additional $15.

We encourage your school to send several representatives from various environmental and / or social justice groups to take part in our various workshops and discussions. This event will be especially beneficial to campus initiatives in two ways: creating links between students within and between schools, and providing these students with the tools needed to improve the ways in which we work towards campus sustainability.

To register, please see our website at http://ssmu.mcgill.ca/scd/

Participating students and members of the Montreal community will also have the opportunity to present workshops or contribute to the panel discussion. Please fill in the application attached (for giving a workshop or for the round table of administrators) and send it to .

We look forward to meeting you!
