Integrate sustainability issues into financial decision-making    Fri Jan 25, 2008, Toronto, ON

Stakeholders increasingly demand that business play a role in addressing environmental and social challenges. On January 25, 2008, the Ivey Business School will assemble international experts from industry, research, and government to discuss state-of-the-art tools for valuing environmental and social issues. The event will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 8AM-5PM EST, at the Ivey ING Leadership Centre (The Exchange Tower, Toronto, Canada).

At this forum we will share concepts, models, and best practices on how to value business sustainability practices such as community engagement, pollution prevention, philanthropy, etc. The world’s leading experts in practice and academia comprise the speaker’s list. This is where the state-of-the-art meets the state-of-the-science. The forums are designed to promote engaged, high-impact dialogue between participants and presenters.

The confirmed speakers to date include:
-->Timothy Devinney (Australian Graduate School of Management), one of the world’s top academics on sustainability issues, will speak about what is happening on the international front.
-->Michael Jantzi (Jantzi Research) will discuss valuation tools relevant to investors.
-->Rob Klassen (Ivey Business School) will talk about the tools related to business operations.
-->Joshua Margolis (Harvard Business School) has reviewed the body of academic work in this area and will synthesize his learnings.
-->John Peloza (Simon Fraser University) and Ron Yachnin (Yachnin & Associates) are synthesizing the state-of-knowledge in both practice and research and will reveal what they have learned to date.
-->Alan Willis (Alan Willis & Associates) will discuss measuring and reporting non-financials.

Registration is limited to 65, to encourage open dialogue. To secure your place, register now at www.ivey.ca/forums. The registration fee is $500 ($250 for non-profits and academics).

A second forum will be held on February 29, 2008, to discuss best practices in community engagement. Registration also occurs from www.ivey.ca/forums .
