Soil erosion and desertification are happening today at alarming rates, driving water and food insecurity, forced migration, and climate change. Some estimates indicate that between 44% and 57% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from the global food system. At this rate, the UN has indicated that we may have 60 harvests left.

But there is a solution that lies right beneath our feet. Soil restoration through regenerative agriculture holds tremendous potential to capture carbon, replenish our water supply, reverse desertification, balance our climate, and feed the world with healthy food.

"Our Common Ground" brings together Canadian and African voices to highlight our key ally in the transformation to a regenerative future: our lands and our soils.

Our Moderator:
Karl Thidemann - Co-Founder and Co-Director, Soil4Climate
