Beekeeping Challenges Workshop    Sun Jun 25, 2017, Toronto, ON

Sustainable Urban Beekeeping: Beekeeping Challenges

Whether you're a beekeeper with an established colony or a novice who'd like to learn what to expect if you set up a hive, this workshop will teach you the signs and symptoms of common - and less common - challenges that beekeepers face. This will include information on diagnosing and dealing with pests, pathogens, predators, swarming, and colony failure.

The Humber Arboretum's new learning series on Sustainable Urban Beekeeping looks at the opportunities and challenges associated with running a small-scale urban apiary, with a focus on native bees and sustainable hive management practices that build resilience in the colony. Learners can take individual courses or choose to complete all eight required courses and two electives to earn a Sustainable Urban Beekeeping Certificate of Participation through Humber College.

"Beekeeping Challenges" is the third course in the series (030). This a repeat offering of the course.

Single Course Fee: $75.00 plus HST

Visit the website for information, including details on other courses in the program: http://humberarboretum.on.ca/beekeeping.php

This class will take place in the Centre for Urban Ecology, located on the grounds of the Humber Arboretum, behind Humber College's North Campus (205 Humber College Blvd., Toronto ON, M9W 5L7)
