Environmental Gathering: Breaking Through (Feb 23 - 25)    Thu Feb 23 to Sat Feb 25, 2017, Edmonton, AB

A growing number of people from across Alberta have committed to attending the second annual Environmental Gathering in Edmonton on February 23-25th and we are very pleased that the Alberta Environmental Network will be represented at this exciting event. The Network will be hosting a workshop on the Saturday of the Gathering, and we encourage our members, and all of Alberta's environmental community to join us!

The Environmental Gathering continues the practice of coming together as environmental champions to boldly create and steward our collective vision for tomorrow. This event is an excellent opportunity to explore the urgency of the issues we face and the energy and action needed to address our most pressing concerns.

We are at a unique time in Alberta with new opportunities for meaningful progress on the environment. As we all grapple with important issues like reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting watersheds and preserving valuable land and habitat, it is more important than ever to break through barriers and drive change! No one can do it alone.

Learning at the event will focus on:

• Sharing environmental success stories in Alberta and the approaches used to achieve them
• Exploring Alberta’s future and how social and economic change will impact the environment
• New tools, skills and approaches for environmental strategy, action, impact and messaging
• Environmental priorities for environmental nonprofits, First Nations communities, industry and government
• How all sectors can collectively solve environmental problems
• Relationship building between members of Alberta’s environmental community

The goal of the second Environmental Gathering is to bring together hundreds of individuals representing environmental nonprofits, First Nation communities, industry, and government. There is an exciting line up of keynote speakers, including the Honourable Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks and the Minister Responsible for the Climate Change Office; Shaun Loney, founder of BUILD, Aki Energy and author of the recent published book “An Army of Problem Solvers: Reconciliation and the Solutions Economy”; and Dr. Renee Lertzman, internationally recognized thought leader, advisor, and author. In addition to these keynote speakers, there are over 30 additional presenters and workshop hosts from Alberta’s environmental community.

We invite you to join us at this exciting event and if you would like to learn more please visit the Environmental Gathering website:
