What kinds of listings does GoodWork accept?

In short, GoodWork welcomes postings of jobs, contracts and internships (plus a selection of volunteer opportunities; details below). Our themes include environment, peace, sustainable living and related topics. We welcome postings from anywhere in Canada, plus international opportunities of interest to Canadians. We also post eco- and organic businesses and real estate for sale. If in doubt, go ahead and submit it.

List of Themes / Scope Statement

Themes: Our major themes are environment, sustainable living and peace. This includes green business; sustainable and organic food, gardening and agriculture; nature and outdoors (with an ecological or non-motorized angle); and renewable energy. Additional themes can include: food security; human rights; social justice; alternative and independent media; freedom of information; democracy; corporate issues and ethics; fair trade; globalization; privatisation; cooperation; intentional community; vegetarianism; voluntary simplicity. Post it now.

Other themes: You are welcome to submit a listing on a different topic, if you feel it would be of interest to subscribers. We reserve the right to accept or reject postings based on volume or editorial discretion. Paid employment, contracts and RFP's get first consideration. Post it now.

Themes not usually covered: At this time we do not accept most postings related to personal health, social services, sexuality, art or spirituality – unless there is a clear link to one or more of our themes. Please check back in the future as we continue to develop our services. If in doubt, post it now.

Types of postings accepted: Employment; contracts; requests for proposals; calls for submissions; internships; apprenticeships; volunteer postings (see below). Also: related learning and networking opportunities, events, workshops, courses and resources. We welcome postings from nonprofits, for-profits and government. Entry level, intermediate and senior. Volunteer postings: We do publish a selection of volunteer postings. We welcome those that are related to environment or peace; offer a worthwhile experience; and are not only of local interest. (You are always welcome to post, but we reserve the right to decide based on scope, excessive volume, or editorial discretion. If your posting is only of local interest, we recommend you also use local media, events, bulletin boards, and the local volunteer or community centre.) Post it now.
