International Biosphere Eco-City Symposium towards SDGs (Wed July 3 - Fri July 5)    Wed Jul 3 to Fri Jul 5, 2019, Ottawa, ON

iBEC "International Biosphere Eco-City Symposium towards Sustainable Development Goals" will be held on July 03 - 05, 2019 in Ottawa, Canada.

iBEC2019 slogan is ”Green practices for the future” to discuss initiatives, practices and solutions for the climate challenges with consideration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

iBEC2019 accepts contributions in the following matrix of themes and tracks

1. Transportation – the movement of goods and people

2. Energy – for buildings, transportation, manufacturing, and agriculture

3. Design – the built environment (especially buildings and roads)

4. Habitat – urban green spaces, water areas, and rural environment

5. Food – farms & urban markets, heritage crops/animals, urban gardens

6. Natural Capital – maintaining land, water, soil, natural materials

7. Waste – the processing of wastes, recycling, efficient design, and conversion to energy

8. Health – clean air and water, safety, tranquility, environmental needs of vulnerable groups

9. Recreation – urban, rural, and agricultural (e.g. farm visits)

10. Sense of Place – a feeling of belonging, sense of community, and stewardship

iBEC2019 will be complemented through technical sessions and roundtables with exchange of ideas and contributions from renowned keynote speakers representing well-known institutes from Canada and abroad. Researchers and participants will be coming from academia, research centers, business, industry NGOs and government organizations.

iBEC2019 offers:

1. Themed sessions representing a showcase for the current research and practices aligned with the symposium themes.

2. Technical workshop on Carbon Calculation in Canada which will serve as an excellent opportunity to networking and exchange ideas.

3. Publication of selected papers in an international peer-reviewd journal.

4. The Ottawa Sustainability Tour; a very attractive eco-social activity. The tour reflects the sustainability sense of the National Capital Region. Tour is offered with our strategic partner "Ottawa Biosphere Eco-city Council"
