Green Energy Doors Open - 'Passive House' super energy-efficient home    Sat Oct 4 to Sun Oct 5, 2014, Ottawa/Manotick, ON

Cornelis Grey Construction is hosting an Open House event to showcase their newly built Passive Home. It is one of the few across Canada. Passive homes use up to 90% less energy than similar sized homes built to minimum building code. Some of the homes features include:

• South facing windows with a high solar heat gain coefficent to allow heat in
• Overhangs to block the sun in the summer
• Fossil fuel free
• Power Pipe (Drain Water Heat Recovery)
• Air Source Heat Pump Hot Water Tank
• Air Source Heat Pumps to heat the home
• Reclaimed pine flooring from the Ottawa River
• Butternut trim work from Vermont

These events will take place on:
- Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm
- and Sunday from 10 am to 4pm.
