Women & Carpentry - Recycled Wood Workshops (Mar 13 - 14)    Sat Mar 13 to Sun Mar 14, 2010, Toronto, ON

timberdoodle is a series of carpentry workshops designed by women for women. Held in downtown Toronto, these workshops aim to provide a safe place for women to share ideas and woodworking skills. timberdoodle seeks to empower women to use woodworking tools and techniques. We provide the tools and hopefully, the inspiration to open avenues that are often less accessible to women.

Our first workshop is an introduction to woodworking which will cover the fundamentals: about wood, using tools, cutting, joining, and finishes. The idea is to give you a general understanding of building structures made out of wood and how to do it successfully.

What makes timberdoodle unique is in our use of recycled materials. We aim to build everything out of materials found at the curb side, in back alleys, construction site bins, online and "unwanted/useless" items hidden in your basement or attic. Participants will be taught how to disassemble found items, what to look for in found materials and what to consider when using found materials.

All materials and tools are provided. Held over weekends.
